Repeat Drunk Drivers A Grave Threat to Atlanta Motorists
New research shows an alarming number of repeat drunk drivers are on Georgia highways. Nearly one-third of all traffic accident deaths are caused by intoxicated drivers. Nationally, an estimated two million DUI drivers that have been convicted three or more times, including 400,000 drivers who have been convicted five or more times, will be out on the highways during this holiday season.
In 2007, just between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, nearly 1,500 people were killed in wrecks involving drivers who were under the influence of alcohol. That is an alarming statistic! We are in the midst of the 2008 holiday period - so please exercise extreme caution on the roadways! Christmas and New Years is a very dangerous time to be out on the roads.
